Play Windows Games On MacWindows games are known for excellent graphics and exciting gameplay more than any other. Premium games written for the operating system are highly sophisticated that high-end graphics and central processing units are required. Some of these games, however, are exclusively designed for Windows and are not ported to other operating systems such as the Mac OS X. To play Windows games on Mac, emulators may not suffice the speed requirements of premium Windows games. For utmost compatibility, installing the actual Windows OS on the Apple Macintosh machine is recommended. This dual boot installation can be accomplished using Boot Camp. Boot Camp is a feature in Mac OS X so that other operating systems can be installed simultaneously on the same machine. Being able to run Windows at native speed is the main advantage of this installation type over emulators since the latter can certainly affect performance due to the nature of how it handles resource requests. Thus, Windows installed through Boot Camp enables applications to access entirely the multiple processors along with multiple cores and accelerated 3D graphics hardware. To install Windows through Boot Camp, some requirements have to be satisfied first. The Apple Macintosh machine must be Intel-based since Windows is designed to run on this architecture. The entire installation also requires at least 10 GB of hard disk space. Of course, a licensed Windows installation disk is needed preferably Windows 7. Boot Camp is preinstalled in the Mas OS X, which can be found in Utilities under the Applications folder. With all the requirements fully complied with, the machine is ready to handle the Windows installation. The installation process is fairly straightforward and is fully outlined in the Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide. Once finished, the Windows environment can now be implemented on the Macintosh machine. To play Windows games on Mac, the game setup file is installed following the usual process of launching the executable setup file. |
